Saturday, November 3, 2012 7:30pm
Venue: Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1292 W. Santa Cruz Street, San Pedro, CA 90732.
The Filipino Community of Holy Trinity Parish will present the Filipinas Chorale USA and their junior partner, The Cherubs at a candlelight Concert in memory of Fr Rolly Jardiniano, beloved Associate Pastor at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Msgr Joseph Brennan will make a guest appearance and will sing at the event.
The two concert choirs have the unique ministry of helping churches in their fundraising efforts and community-building projects. They have a varied repertoire of classical, traditional, sacred as well as music by Filipino composers. This concert will give a foretaste of Christmas in November. The adult choir is made up of seasoned Filipino singers from various Catholic church choirs in Los Angeles, under the direction of Sister Marie Vincent Llamzon, SFCC, a well-known music teacher and former Dean of the Conservatory of Music at St Paul’s College in Manila where she founded the famous St Paul’s Glee Club. The Cherubs is a children’s choir who made their debut in 1997 for Sunday Mass liturgy. Thirty members ranging in ages from five to fifteen will be singing with the adult choir to provide a wholesome family entertainment that is rarely seen today. This is a repeat performance for both choirs. In 2008, they performed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church to help in their debt reduction campaign due to the church renovation. This time, they will perform to raise funds for a new church door, to replace one that is badly in need of repair. The door will bear a plaque as a memorial for Fr Rolly who was originally from Jaro, Iloilo, Philippines.
